I’ve been a big fan of these two videos from Dave Cormier for a while. I think they’re helpful in a number of areas. Firstly they highlight some of the ways the internet has changed knowledge and learning. Secondly they point out an interesting model for a MOOC, one which is more participatory and relational than some of the courses you see on Coursera, EdX, Futurelearn et al. Thirdly they open up an interesting approach to relationship building as integral to learning which highlights the use of connectivism in these videos. I think you basically could remove the word “MOOC” from the two videos and replace it with “learning”. I think Cormier’s five points creates an interesting approach to relationship building and learning online that I’ve found useful with students before in my work.
